Public now think ID cards a bad idea

    Against

The latest ICM poll reveals that 50% of the British public now think that the UK Card ID system is a bad idea, while 47% think it is a good idea. This is the first time that a majority of the British public are against it.

    Very Bad Idea

Added to that, 25% of those see it as a 'very bad idea'. In contrast, only 12% seem to think it is a 'very good idea'.

If one-in-four of the UK population think it is so repulsive as an idea to go with, then it is going to be very difficult for the UK Government to enforce it.

    Coming Soon

It seems that foreign nationals living in Britain will be the first to derive the benefit of it. In fact, they will be handed over their cards late on this year while the rest of the UK population will be getting theirs in 2012.

This seems to be a potential haven for hackers and phishers.

Well, why bother hacking any other systems to get personal information about people, you can hack your way into the whole damn lot in one place.
