Not Missing Out on IT Contracting Opportunities

    Options Covered

IT Contractors should make sure that they cover all possible options as far as getting work are concerned.

It is a good idea for IT contractors to make a list of all the places where they had worked and also where they have done a good job or where their work was highly commended, and to contact their old clients asking if they can act as a consultant for, or maybe even maintain the parts of the system that they were responsible for.

    Call Up

I would also suggest that once the period stated in the contract allowing you to contact a client is up, you should lose no time in calling up the client and requesting him to be put on a 'call-up' list whenever a vacancy arises, or even asking whether you could be considered for maintaining the system remotely.

It has often been seen that bosses are sent in a tizzy when someone leaves. They would really appreciate it if they received a call from someone who knows the system in this sticky situation.

    Happy

Often, you clients are clueless about how to get in touch with people who worked at their site before. As a client, I would have been happy to make use of this facility.

To avoid nay more suffering, IT Contractors should make sure that a situation never occurs where an employer is on the lookout, but can't find them.

Imagine being out of work for months, and somebody has an opening that matches your skills perfectly, but they didn't know how they should get in touch in order for the best candidate to fill that position.
