Illegal
A bill introduced in the House of Commons has pronounced agencies’ practice of taking money from clients for supplying IT Contractors illegal. This makes every contract between IT Contractors, the agencies and the clients null and void.
It has left the participants clueless about what to do next. In a dramatic twist, tens of thousands of contracts have suddenly become invalidated.
Renegotiate
A possible ruse could be the vast majority of clients will renegotiate with IT Contractors, and enter into some sort of arrangement with the contractors. Contractors must act immediately as their contracts become invalid on April 30th.
Immediate Effect
According to legal experts, contractors may be allowed to dig into all of the agency percentage, since agencies cannot partake of it now.
The apprehension is will agents simply disappear? The answer is No.
Changed Role
Agents will come back in a new avatar/image. Since contractors don't have time to look for jobs, the refurbished agent's role will represent IT Contractors, and charge a fixed fee for it or cuts of 10% for getting them jobs, whichever is suitable.
This is nothing short of a milestone in the progress of the IT Contracting Industry.
